in reply to: Monthly Meeting March 12Hi Phil,
The North Louisiana STEM Alliance tried doing that just for the leadership team (fondly named the “Strategic Design Team”). Even that turned out to be cumbersome. A university professor on the team said his university would not allow him to sign an MOU without a huge amount of administrative involvement, so he politely declined serving on the leadership team. I spoke with TIES and did some research on my own. In conclusion, I did not feel it was necessary to sign MOU’s unless specific members were discussing sensitive subjects such as patent ideas. Therefore, anything that is posted on our extensive shared Google drive should be considered *nearly* publicly available. It is for members-only but there really isn’t any recourse if someone shares it with someone else. So don’t post something sensitive or proprietary on the shared Google drive.
Now, for membership rules, we are in transition from personally vetting someone and adding them in as a member upon request, to a membership application form (our Americorps VISTA Member created a Jotform; she also created the MOU form). In this form, it has a Child Protection Policy. I plan to add the Non-discrimination Statement as well. I have heard from other ecosystems that getting every member to sign something is bothersome, and even very good members are just too busy to be bothered by signing stuff. I’ll keep you posted as we progress.
I hope this helps. If you want input regarding how to make and disseminate forms, I highly recommend you talk to our former Americorps VISTA member, Ms. Ebony Mitchell. She did a terrific job.
Cheers,
Heather Kleiner

in reply to: September Brief NewsletterAlso, if you have any items for the next monthly newsletter, could you please send them to nlastemalliance@gmail.com by July 20? I plan to post the newsletter on the 25th of each month.
Another way to share your information with the North Louisiana STEM Alliance is if you use Facebook. If you are hosting an event, you can name North Louisiana STEM Alliance as a co-host, and your event will show up on our events page. If there is anything else we can do to help promote your program/event please let us know. We can also put things on the webpage at https://nlastemalliance.org/
Thanks again,
Heather

in reply to: Photo needed – Americorps VISTA memberHi everyone,
I enjoyed participating in the second session on Building and Maintaining Trust. One of the participants mentioned having an agreement for new members to sign. I thought that was a good idea. Is this something that could be shared?
Thanks!
