Please join Representatives Mike Honda and Sheila Jackson Lee for the second briefing in their Education Through the Lens series. The important facet of educational equity which we will be exploring on June 10th is Early Learning STEM. Learn about some of the broad commitments and cutting-edge efforts recently highlighted at the White House’s Early STEM Learning Symposium.
The briefing will be moderated by Dr. Russell Schilling, Executive Director of STEM for the U.S. Department of Education. We will be hearing from a panel of extremely talented, on-the-ground educational practitioners from across the U.S. including:
Ms. Carrie Draper– Founder & Executive Director, Readiness Learning Associates, Pasadena, CA
Ms. Wendy Brenneman — Manager of Early Childhood STEM Initiatives, Carnegie Science Center Pittsburgh
Ms. Rudo Kashiri – NASA Langley/Virginia Space Grant Consortium
Mr. David Lowenstein– Senior Director, Ready To Learn, PBS KIDS Digital
This will be a widely attended event, please RSVP.
The series title refers to our incorporation of cutting edge & creative media in the briefings as well as to our “lens” of equity. The final briefing in the series on July 12 will focus on Global Girls Education. Please plan to attend the entire series! If you have questions, please contact Joanna Hubbard in Rep. Honda’s office (202.225.2631) or Abiola Afolayan in Rep. Jackson Lee’s office (202.225.3816).
