STEM leader urges New Jersey legislators to pass bill aimed at fostering innovation
Monday, March 11, 2019, Kim Case, executive director of the Research and Development Council of New Jersey, and managing partner of the New Jersey STEM Pathways Network, told the state General Assembly that New Jersey start-ups do not usually scale into large businesses.
This is in stark contrast to what happens in other states, Case said, where start-ups form the basis of strong and fast-growing economies.
Case, one of four who offered testimony in support of a bill intended to jumpstart the economy, cited a 2017 McKinsey report showing that New Jersey is not leveraging its strengths in such areas as pharma, finance and technology for economic success.
