Dear Fellow STEM Learning Ecosystem Community of Practice Member:
The North America Scholastic Esports Federation (NASEF) is working to ensure that ALL students possess the knowledge and skills needed to be society’s game changers: educated, productive, and empathetic individuals. NASEF is on a mission to provide opportunities for ALL students to use esports as a platform to acquire critical communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills needed to thrive in work and in life. The Federation’s core values are intertwined through all aspects of education and play: learning, opportunity, community, diversity, and respect.
We have launched our second season and we have a number of STEM Learning Ecosystems participating, but we would love to have more represented!
How can I help my local high school or community-based organization get started?
Have them visit our website and activate a Club! Activation is free and only takes a few minutes.Activated Clubs get access to free toolkits and workshops on esports, shoutcasting, streaming, and more! We want the Clubs to be where to students have the opportunity to learn and explore the ecosystem of esports. Do you have a talented artist – they can design the Club webpage. Do you have a student interested in writing articles? You have your Club blogger! It’s about meeting students where they are at! We provide the resources at no charge.
You can also view one of our overview webinars to learn more.
What if my high school wants to compete? What tournaments are you offering?
Great news! We are excited to announce Overwatch for our fall tournament. NASEF is working in close partnership with Tespa and Blizzard Entertainment to offer a fantastic season. Our tournament starts October 8, 2018, so make sure to get your Club activated, as your Club has to be a member of the North America Scholastic Esports Federation. Participation in our tournament is free and we offer virtual coaches and coaching clinics. What about the English Language Arts curriculum for 9th-12th grade? What if we want to learn more about how to implement that at my local high school?
You can find the curriculum on our website. If you are interested in learning more about piloting a unit or implementing any or all of the 9-12 grade curriculum, please email us at info@esportsfed.org.I look forward to seeing more high schools from my fellow STEM Learning Ecosystems activate their Clubs! Should you have any questions, I can be reached directly at TTurner@ocde.us.
Sincerely,
Tom Turner
