Hello,
Maryville University offers an intensive, 9-credit hour STEM Education Certificate each June on campus in St Louis. The mornings run 8:30-12:45 with 3 days on each topic: 1-credit STEM Education overview, a choice of 4 out of 8 1-credit electives (e.g., makerspace, robotics—each for three sequential mornings) to tailor the program to their interests and needs, then have a 1-credit capstone and leave with an action plan for their classroom or school. In the afternoons from 1:30-4:30, educators take a 3-credit hour Creativity, Problem Solving, and Critical Thinking course that serves to tie the program together and provides strategies useful across all STEM Education.
It is possible to do only a portion of the program (we get some teachers that just want to learn about a single elective or others whose districts will only pay for 6 credits per summer, for examples).
Also, we are working on an online masters with a summer residency that would compact the length of the summer stay. However, to ensure that it’s at the highest quality, that will probably not be ready to launch until Summer 2019.
Please let us know what questions you have.
